Overlooking Monterey Bay on the east side of Santa Cruz, this design for a beach house balances the client’s desire for a modern form and the more traditional architecture of the surrounding neighborhood. Large windows and a curved roof with an integrated photo voltaic array and rainwater catchment system are paired with western red cedar and Monterey cypress cladding, providing a connection between present and past.
