We were reading Dwell magazine when a reader question about exterior materials jumped off the page at us. The published inquiry about options for remodeling a home’s shell was from Aptos, California! It seemed that the answer provided could have gone further, so we took the initiative to contact the couple directly. The potential clients loved the suggestions that Fuse had for their home. They had assumed this kind of design was not accessible in Santa Cruz and were glad to have met designers who practice architecture at the level they were seeking. The existing house had a somewhat awkwardly designed mid-century modern aesthetic. Our clients wanted a more practical and progressively modern design. As a complete exterior remodel and large landscape renovation, the home’s square footage was kept exactly the same as it had been before. It was a pleasure to find likeminded clients who shared a passion for excellent design. Their intention was not to have the biggest home on the block, but rather to have a home that was aligned with their lifestyle and design sensibilities.
