Nestled on one of four parcels in the Black Ridge Vineyard Estates, this is the home of a professional motorcycle rider who had some very unique ideas about the design of his house. There were two elements that provided the main design thrust for 41 House. The first was giving visual access to the unparalled mountain views surrounding the property. The other was modeling the circulation and architectural massing of the home after the curves and topographical relief of a motorcycle racetrack. Windows were sized and aligned to maximize the breathtaking views while allowing a balance of full natural light in the winter and solar protection for the hotter summer months. Named after our client’s racing number, 41 House serves as an homage to his motorcycle career and includes a racing bike prominently featured in the entry.
